Garvan Woodland Gardens Holiday Lights 2026: Timed Entry and Membership

Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs AR

Holiday Lights at Garvan Woodland Gardens opens Saturday, November 21, and runs through December 31, 2026. This year every ticket comes with an assigned entry time. Garden members get one exception. They can come any night the lights are on, with no reservation, even when general admission has sold out.

For a household near Arkridge Road, the exception comes cheap. Price out a single Premium evening for two adults, and a Dual membership costs one dollar more and covers the whole year.

What Timed Entry Changes at the Gate

Garvan says the new system is meant "to help spread guest arrivals throughout the evening and create a smoother experience." When you buy a ticket, you pick one of three windows:

  1. 5:00 p.m.
  2. 6:30 p.m.
  3. 8:00 p.m.

You need to arrive during your window. Once inside, you can stay until the end of the evening, and staff won't ask you to leave when the next group starts arriving.

The 2026 ticket page lists Holiday Lights hours as 5:00 to 9:30 p.m., with last admission at 9:00. That means the 8:00 slot gets the shortest visit, at most about 90 minutes before closing. Other Garvan pages list the hours differently. An older FAQ gives 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and later closings on weekends, and the November 21 ticket listing shows an end time of 9:00 p.m. If you're booking the late slot, confirm the closing time with Garvan first.

Tickets are also tied to a single night. They're final sale and valid only for the date and entry time you chose. You can exchange an unused ticket once before its date through your online account. If Garvan closes for lightning or snow, that night's tickets are refunded automatically. If you live ten minutes from the gate and like to wait for a clear, mild night, a fixed ticket is a commitment that membership avoids.

The Math for a Household on the Lake

Garvan sells Holiday Lights tickets at two price tiers. Buying online costs less than paying at the gate.

Here are the current membership checkout prices: Single $65, Dual $75, Single Plus $125, Dual Plus $150, and higher tiers from Donor at $200 to Circle at $1,000.

Run the numbers for a two-adult household:

  • One Premium night, bought online: $74 for two adults, compared with $75 for a Dual membership.
  • The same night bought at the gate: $94, which is $19 more than the membership.
  • One adult on Standard nights: three online visits cost $66, just over the $65 Single membership.

The 2026 page says members visit "on any operating night without a reservation," so the second and third evenings cost nothing extra. At the gate you show your membership card and a valid photo ID.

The ticket page also lists a third category, Community nights, next to Standard and Premium. The page text doesn't give their price or explain who qualifies. Check the admission calendar on Garvan's site before assuming any particular rate.

Employers with corporate memberships have their own rule. Corporate members also skip reservations, and the coverage includes the employee, a spouse, and the employee's children 17 and under. It doesn't include extended family such as parents or grandchildren. If grandparents visiting for Thanksgiving week want to come along, they need their own tickets.

Why October Is When a Membership Starts Paying Off

The math above assumes the membership starts in late November. It can start paying sooner, because Garvan's calendar for the five weeks before the lights go on is full of daytime events. Once Holiday Lights begins, the gardens close during the day. Until then, regular hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the Sentinel-Record.

The biggest draw this month is "Where the Wind Lives," the kinetic art exhibition by Patrick Shearn of Poetic Kinetics. It opened in the spring, and the Sentinel-Record reported that Garvan has extended it through October 31 because of its popularity. The show has three installations:

  • Avian Rainbow on the Great Lawn
  • Color Cascade in Evan's Children's Adventure Garden
  • Flight Paths over the Millsap Canopy Bridge

The exhibition is included with regular admission. For the rest of the month it hangs above the gardens' fall pumpkins and mums.

Several dated events fill the rest of the calendar, and some of them come with member pricing:

The two Anthony Chapel events mark the chapel's 20th year. Garvan hasn't posted a time or ticket price for the Lantern Festival yet. The Sentinel-Record lists it only as "the evenings of Oct. 22-24."

Parents of young children have one more regular option. Sprout & Explore, for ages 2 to 8, meets from 10 to 11 a.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays through November 10 and is free with admission or membership.

Add the member pricing to the Holiday Lights math. One adult who takes the October 24 yoga class and goes to the November 5 cocktail evening saves $30 compared with the nonmember prices. That's nearly half of a $65 Single membership, before the first evening of lights.

Planning the Nights You Can't Easily Change

Some evenings are harder to get than others. Garvan says Saturdays, Thanksgiving week, and Christmas week may sell out, and it strongly encourages buying tickets online in advance. The gardens are closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. If out-of-town family is arriving that week, choose the date before choosing the entry window, because the popular nights fill first.

A few other house rules apply during the season:

  • Dogs aren't allowed during Holiday Lights.
  • Parking attendants direct cars into spaces as they open, and Garvan posts separate driving directions for the event on its Holiday Lights page. No shuttle service is described.
  • The display itself is billed as more than eight million lights, now in its 25th year.

For a household that goes once on a single Standard night, a ticket is still the cheaper option. A household that likes to go back on short notice, or brings guests through more than once in December, gets the most out of membership. Ticket windows and membership checkout are both on Garvan's ticket page.
